It's a babe in a box!

Unky Joe, making special time for Ell even with his own little girl here now, gifted the Peanut with a very exciting new toy- a medium sized brown box!!! It has provided much entertainment at the MacKenzie house.

 

Step One: Put your kid in a box

Busy time

We've had a busy weekend that has extended into the week. The fun started Saturday, when Ellery took the gondola up the hills of Portland with Poppy and Lala...
On Sunday, she got to hang with the gang in the van outside Lauren and Joe's house waiting for Ruby to be born...


Then Uncle Jameson came in town and helped Ell with the blog (thanks Uncle J!)...
We hung out with Ruby on her first big night out...


Then Mom and Ell had one last photo before bedtime...

You want how much??!?

 This is Ellery's reaction to 1 year waiting list and four figure monthly daycare bills. I have already nixed several ads with the phrase "Let me be your child's Second Mommy!" because I find that creepy, as well as a poor use of capitalization. So we start tours and meet and greets tomorrow; hopefully we will find a good fit that will not completely cancel out the new paycheck. Although, as I watch Ell pull everything out of yet another cabinet and throw it to the floor, $1100 a month ain't sounding so bad....any takers?

Most babies like their naked time, and Ellery is no exception. It may have taken her some time to grow those thigh rolls, but she loves to show them off now.

From time to time Ellery and her Unky Joe like to just hang out and jam. So far, Ell seems to prefer the keyboards, but she's plucked some guitar string a few times also. Joe is working on some practice shots for her first music video.

Lauren is coming down the home stretch growing Ellery's new playmate, Raisin MacKenzie. We enjoyed a lovely sunny walk the other day and took the opportunity to capture the moment.

swimmin' and nappin'

In anticipation of swimming lessons, which begin next week, Ellery and I spent some time at the pool recently. She spent about 40 minutes splashing and kicking her legs froggy-style (future breaststroker like her Mom??), and Scott joined us to film the last few moments before we hit the showers.


The Peanut is a very good-natured baby, and apart from momentary temper tantrums she is almost always smiling. Even when first waking up, as is seen in this video...
